About me
Hello and welcome! Here's a little bit more about me as a designer. In 2022, I completed my MSEd in Learning Design and Technology at Purdue University. Since graduating, I've worked as an instructional designer in corporate training at a Fortune 500 company.
My day-to-day job includes leading training projects of varied modalities (elearning, ILT, video, and job aids) through the full project lifecycle (analysis-learning implementation). Communication, SME/stakeholder collaboration and creative solutioning are strengths I bring to my projects and designs.
Let's get real. Training is expensive and a lot of the time ineffective. Professionals are fighting to fit required trainings into an already full week. They decide within minutes if a training is worth their valuable time and attention. Most of the time, the decision is it's not. Learning design is so much more than putting an endless processes on a slide and hoping for the best. I love tailoring learning solutions to performance needs and advocating for engaging training that mimics on-the-job environments.
I currently live in Dallas, TX and love reading, writing, and exploring creative pursuits. I am on a mission to find the best local coffee in Dallas and spend my free time outside as much as possible. You can find my full CV at the "download CV" button below. Professional story
Instructional design
I found out about instructional design and was all in. I knew it was the career path that was a perfect blend of both my expertise and interest. I decided to go for my master's degree as part of my career transition. This was foundational to learning the learning theories and tools for great quality design. I've been in ID ever since.
Business
After my time in education, I worked in business trying my hand in different areas. I worked in billing at a small tech start-up company. Then I got my health coaching certification and was self-employeed. I enjoyed business way more than I thought I would, but still found myself interested in eduction. I couldn't quite align the pieces for a while.
Education
I started my career in education. I taught Pre-K and then moved into program management for an educational non-profit. I spent many year creating learning programs, coordinating volunteers and grants, and organizing and implementing campus-wide events. I knew that I loved learning but that the standard K-12 wasn't for me.
